Congratulations to Professor Madan Rehani on his appointment as Emeritus Member of ICRP Committee 3 for life with effect from 1st July 2021.
During the last 65 years, ICRP has awarded Emeritus Membership to only 23 persons. Of these, those in medical radiation protection are only 7 and Prof. Rehani will be the 8th.
Prof Madan Rehani is the only Indian in 65 years of ICRP history of awarding emeritus membership who has been awarded such a distinct position. He is a life member (LM-635) of Association of Medical Physicists of India (AMPI). AMPI congratulates Prof Madan Rehani for this accolade and proud to bring this message to the notice of all.

Highlights of the Achievements/Contributions of Prof Madan Rehani
Prof Madan Rehani joined ICRP Committee 3 (Radiological Protection in Medicine) in 1997. He Chaired 4 Task Groups which led to following ICRP Publications:
- Managing Patient Dose in Computed Tomography, ICRP Report 87,
- Managing Patient Dose in Multi-Detector Computed Tomography, ICRP Report 102
- Radiological Protection in Fluoroscopically Guided Procedures outside the Imaging Department, ICRP Report 117, and
- Radiological Protection in Cone Beam Computed Tomography, ICRP Report 129.
Prof Madan Rehani served as member of Task Groups leading to following ICRP Publications:
- Avoidance of Radiation Injuries from Medical Interventional Procedures, ICRP Report 85,
- Education and Training in Radiological Protection for Diagnostic and Interventional Procedures, ICRP Report 113
- Radiological Protection in Cardiology, ICRP Report 120
- Radiological Protection in Paediatric Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, ICRP Report 121, and
- Diagnostic Reference Levels in Medical Imaging, ICRP Report 135.
Prof Rehani is currently the Director of Global Outreach for Radiation Protection at the Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, Massachusetts), and has received over a dozen awards from various national and international organisations. He has published over 200 papers in various peer reviewed international journals and currently serving as the Senior Editor of the British Journal of Radiology and Associate Editor of Eur J Medical Physics.
Last but not the least, Prof Madan Rehani served the medical physics community in various capacities and currently he is the President of International Organisation for Medical Physics (IOMP) for 2018-2021 term.
