As you are aware, the college of medical physics of India (CMPI) was formed with a vision of establishing and maintaining standards in the practice of Medical Physicists in India. The college has been conducting certification programs for Medical physicists in radiotherapy. Now the college has initiated series of teaching programs to update the knowledge of medical physicists in the country. As the first teaching course it decided to conduct a 3 day course on “Conformal radiotherapy: Concepts and practice”, at Chennai during June 28-30, 2013.

The advent of new imaging modalities and high-end radiotherapy techniques has evolved immense technological revolution in the field of radiotherapy which tailors the best conformal cancer treatment with sophisticated equipments. There is a great concern that all centers need orientation and high quality medical physics education due to the cutting edge of development in this field. Hence it is imperative and vital for a medical physicist to have a clear knowledge of these innovative paradigms in the safe use and practice of modern medical technology to provide a boon of dose escalation and enhancement of tissue sparing in the treatment of cancer.

This course is primarily aimed with a pedagogical approach at medical physicists, who have special interest and eager to update their knowledge on physics and technical aspects of conformal radiotherapy. Renowned faculties /Senior medical physicists from academic and leading cancer centers in India will be delivering lectures with interactive manner. The number of participants is restricted to 40, on first come first serve basis. Registration is compulsory for the participation of the course. Preferably only one medical physicist from a hospital/institution will be selected for the course. There is no spot registration to the course.

All the participants will be given certificate after evaluation on the last day. Efforts are on to get credit points from The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University, Chennai and Medical council of India, New Delhi. Participants have to make their own arrangements for stay at Chennai. However the organizers may provide assistance in getting paid accommodation, for those who make an early request to Mr. N.
